Why and how do you donate all of your proceeds to animal charities?

I want to make a difference with my art, so I decided to donate proceeds from any sales to my favorite cause - animal charities. I am able to do this by donating my time and materials.

How did you decide which charities to support?

The charities I support are those that are particularly near and dear to me. Bears and cats have long been among my favorite animals, hence Fat Kitty City and Idaho Black Bear Rehab. I am a resident of El Dorado county in California. PAWED serves the animal residents of this county. For more information on these organizations, see About Supported Charities.

Can I choose which charity I want you to donate the proceeds of my sale to?

When you make a purchase through PayPal you can include a note. Please indicate which of the charities I support you wish your proceeds to go to. Please do not ask me to send proceeds to a charity not on my supported list.

Why don't you accept payment except through PayPal?

If you e-mail me, we can arrange a purchase by check. In this case, I will mail your purchases once your check has cleared. I don't accept credit cards because of the expense involved.

What if I like your work but don't see what I want? Do you do custom work?

Yes, I will do custom work. I have a whole section on commissioning a pet portrait. For custom jewelry, please e-mail me.

What is polymer clay? Is it durable?

Polymer clay is a mixture of tiny PVC particles, a plasticizer, and pigment. It is used both for crafts and fine art. Polymer clay remains malleable at room temperature until it is cured at temperatures ranging from 250 to 325 degrees F. Manufacturers offer clay in a range of colors and you can also mix clays for "custom" colors. I do not use paints on my polymer clay pieces, but I often brush them with mica powder before curing to give a metallic or iridescent sheen.

Polymer clay is durable but it needs to be treated with reasonable care. To avoid breakage, do not drop or crush pieces made from this medium. Try to avoid getting pieces wet for anything more than short periods of time. Clean with a gentle dusting. I finish my clay pieces with durable acrylic varnish.

My question isn't here. What to I do?

Feel free to e-mail me with your question.
